For Empathetic Therapists Struggling with People-Pleasing, Perfectionism, and Saying No - A Space for Support, Boundaries, and Growth
Community, consultation, and care for the therapist’s nervous system.
As therapists and business owners, we’re constantly juggling - being there for our clients, running our businesses, pursuing trainings and supervision, and striving to grow both personally and professionally - all while trying to show up as partners, friends, and parents. How can one person manage all that?
Especially if you tend to be an anxious, overachieving perfectionist or a recovering people pleaser, you might find yourself saying yes to everything and everyone. You want to do more, give more, and be more. You teach boundaries and self-compassion, but in practice, it’s easier said than done personally (trust me, I get it).
This pattern of over-functioning and over-giving isn’t sustainable. It often leads to exhaustion, burnout, and even resentment. It’s hard when we want to model healthy boundaries and “practice what we preach” - but the truth is, being both a therapist and business owner can bring up our own wounds and self-critical beliefs. We hold ourselves to impossibly high standards, feel responsible for everyone, and tie our worth to how much we give.
And yet - that’s also what makes us great therapists. We care deeply. We give wholeheartedly. We’re attuned, intuitive, and thoughtful (even when anxiety gets in the way). These qualities are our superpower and sometimes, what get us in trouble.
That’s why I created this group!
Join me for a 12-week Women’s Therapist Support & Consultation Group - a space for women (and non-binary) mental health professionals who identify with over-functioning, over-extending, anxiety, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. Together, we’ll slow down, connect, and support each other both personally and professionally. We’ll have space to process the struggles, celebrate the wins, and talk through the challenges of being a therapist, a business owner, and a human.
You’ll have time for case consultation, exploring boundaries, holding nuance, deciding what to say no to, and creating systems that help you find real balance between work and life. We’ll integrate somatic and mindful self-compassion practices to support nervous system regulation, and even make space for conversations around marketing, policies, and business growth (if requested).
You’ll gain:
✨ A community of like-minded therapists who get it
✨ Space for authentic connection and reflection
✨ Tools to prevent burnout and reconnect with yourself beneath the pressure to “do it all”
✨ Mindfulness, somatic, and self-compassion practices you can bring into your life and your work
This group will be mostly virtual - with one in-person session (in NYC) toward the end so we can connect face-to-face and deepen our community :)
Note: This group is for professional support, community, and consultation. It is NOT a therapy group or counted toward supervision hours and cannot be billed to insurance or reimbursed via superbill unfortunately. However, you can write it off as a business expense under professional support! Since it is consultation and not therapy, women from any state are welcome to join!
Cost: $125 per session, total $1500. Payment plan options available.
Please email me at alyssakushnerlcsw@gmail.com if you are interested until I start offering free phone consultations via calendly (which will be soon).
When: Will be surveying potential members for the best day/time (it’ll be 1 hr 15 mins via zoom) and likely starting early January 2026!

Want support personally, professionally, and get some consultation time
Hi, I’m Alyssa - a therapist, group facilitator, and someone who knows what it’s like to feel stuck in overthinking, self-doubt, and people pleasing.
I created this group because I’ve seen - both personally and professionally - how hard it is to to balance all of the different hats we wear as therapists. Therapist, business owners, partners, friend, daughter, mom, the list goes on! Especially for those of us who can be over-extenders and over-givers, though we know how to tell our clients to hold boundaries and practice self compassion - its so hard to apply it to ourselves!
I specialize in working with relational trauma, codependency, people pleasers, perfectionism, hypervigilance, and self-trust, anxiety.
My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in nervous system-informed, compassionate care. In group, I show up as a real person - someone who will hold space for your pain and challenge you to grow. Together, we’ll build self-trust, soften perfectionism, develop boundaries, and more authentic balanced roles in our relationships where you no longer feel secretly resentful or exhausted.
I’ve been creating and running groups for over 8 years - both skills groups and process groups! While I love individual therapy, as you well know nothing beats healing in connection and community with a group of like minded women on the same journey of self love. To feel less alone, less shame, and to feel empowered by your peers not just a therapist - it’s deeply impactful. We’d love to welcome you into this group!
In this support group, we will…
Reflect on the patterns that show up for us as therapists and business owners
Each week, we’ll explore the parts of ourselves that over-function, over-give, and take on too much - the people-pleaser, the perfectionist, the helper. We’ll look at where these patterns come from, how they impact our work and relationships, and what it means to care for ourselves with the same compassion we give to others.
Share honestly, consult, and connect with one another
This group is a space to be human - not just a therapist. We’ll make room for real conversations about boundaries, burnout, imposter feelings, and the pressures of building and running a practice. Together, we’ll support and consult with each other on both personal and professional challenges, offering empathy, perspective, and community.
Learn and practice somatic, mindful, and self-compassion tools
Each session will include grounding and regulation practices designed to help you reconnect with your body, your intuition, and your values. You’ll leave with somatic and mindfulness tools that not only support you personally, but that you can integrate into your clinical work with clients.
This group will help with…
Managing anxiety, perfectionism, and pressure to “have it all together”
Understanding how your people-pleasing, over-functioning, and self-criticism show up in your work and relationships
Navigating boundaries with clients, supervisees, colleagues, and your business
Reducing burnout and learning to create balance between helping others and caring for yourself
Building self-trust, confidence, and clarity in your clinical and business decisions
Feeling less alone and more connected to a community of like-minded therapists
Learning to identify and honor your own needs without guilt
Cultivating nervous system regulation, mindfulness, and self-compassion practices that support both you and your clients

Each session will include a mix of connection, reflection, and practical support.
We’ll start by grounding together with a brief mindfulness or somatic exercise to help everyone settle in.
From there, we’ll check in as a group - sharing what’s been coming up personally or professionally - and explore the week’s focus topic (like boundaries, perfectionism, imposter feelings, or burnout).
There will be time for both personal sharing and professional consultation, allowing space to process your own experiences as a therapist and get feedback or perspective on clinical or business challenges.
Each session will close with an experiential practice - journaling, mindful self-compassion, or an intention - so you leave grounded, supported, and with something tangible to integrate into your week.
-
This group is for women (and non-binary) mental health professionals who are both therapists and humans - those who give so much to others but often struggle to extend the same care to themselves.
You might identify as an over-functioner, perfectionist, or recovering people pleaser. You may find it hard to slow down, say no, or separate your worth from how much you help.
You’re likely craving connection with other therapists who get it - people who understand the emotional, personal, and practical realities of this work.
Whether you’re navigating burnout, struggling with boundaries, or trying to balance business and life, this group offers a space to feel supported, grounded, and reminded that you’re not alone in it.
Must be a mental health professional! You do not have to be a private practice owner, but we will talk about that sometimes.
