Women’s Group Program & Community
Educational & Skills Group for Over-Giving, Over-Responsible Women
You're the one who holds everything together. You read the room before you walk into it. You say yes before you've checked with yourself. You could list what every person in your life needs right now, and go completely blank on your own.
Put It Down is a 12-week live group for women who are tired of managing everyone else's emotions, anticipating everyone's needs, and abandoning themselves in the process. Tuesdays on Zoom, small on purpose.
Over twelve weeks we work on hyper-responsibility and the fawn response, boundaries and the guilt that arrives ninety seconds later, family-of-origin roles, and rebuilding self-trust - with structure, weekly practice, and other women doing it at the same time. Because these patterns were built in relationship, and that's where they get unlearned too.
One important note about what this is.
Put It Down is educational and skills-based. It is not therapy, it is not group therapy, and it is not part of my clinical practice at AK Psychotherapy - I'm not acting as anyone's therapist in it. It's built to run alongside individual therapy, and most women in it have their own therapist. Because it isn't a clinical service, it's open to women in any state.
The group runs through my second practice, AK Alignment & Growth. Dates, pricing, the full curriculum and the application all live there. First you apply, then we chat via phone or video call.
Hi, I’m Alyssa - a therapist, group facilitator, and someone who knows what it’s like to feel stuck in overthinking, self-doubt, and people pleasing.
I created this group because I’ve seen - both personally and professionally - how hard it is to untangle yourself from putting other people first, feeling deeply responsible for their emotions or moods, and never feeling “good enough.” I specialize in working with women emotional over-responsibility, chronic hypervigilance, self-abandonment, and the deep desire to choose themselves.
My approach is warm, honest, and grounded in nervous system-informed, compassionate care. In group, I show up as a real person - someone who will hold space for your pain and challenge you to grow. Together, we’ll build self-trust, soften these patterns, develop boundaries that actually sick, and finally learn how to exhale and put all this weight you carry down!
I’ve been creating and running groups for over 8 years - both skills groups and process groups! While I love therapy, nothing beats being in connection and community with a group of like minded women on the same journey of self love. To feel less alone, less shame, and to feel empowered by your peers not just a therapist - it’s deeply impactful. Please note this is separate from my therapy practice and is more educational in nature. Skills, community, and support.
